My new professional website: www.drewclifton.com

I have begun work on a professional website to showcase my new burgeoning website design and graphic design business located in Kelowna, BC.

In stark opposition to my old blog (see this blog), it will focus entirely on my pro services. To see my new site visit this link: WordPress website designer in Canada.

I also offer graphic design, SEO (of course!), professional document creation, content writing services, and more.

Recent Website Project

Edit: This site is no longer active as far as I know. It was a fun challenge to complete however!

<s>Here is a link to a new website that I have created: Go Here !

I hope that this post doesn’t take over rankings from the actual site, because it is all done in flash. I am really worried about it… Perhaps I should add a wordpress blog to it as well ;) .

This making websites thing can be a lot of work! I’m already thinking of doing things differently which would probably take me days to do – which I really don’t have time to do.

Anyway the website is for Professional Supply Inc. and it is focusing on their products and technologies that they are now offering to the masses. Hopefully the real homepage will start to do well in the old google and then I can make this post read a bit better, not working about this ranking (it would be embarrassing to have my blog rank higher than my customers page IMHO)

Thanks.</s>

My Sidebar Widget List

This post sort of ‘dovetails’ into my blog post called “WordPress Themes Widget Enabled” which I wrote based on the keyword research I had done back in the day.

I just wanted to outline some of the widgets I am using in my sidebar currently. I turned a few more on recently so you can have a look.

By the way this stuff is found in the “Presentation” section of my admin. I think it’s called “Appearance” now. My version of WordPress is a bit old like old cheese. (2.2.1). I will update it soon when I have some time. Probably not on this site at first, but on another safe domain that I don’t use to test it out.

ANYWAY!

The Widgets:

“Text” Widget

In my sidebar the first thing you will see is an “About The Author” blurb. This was put into a text widget and is first on the list.

“RSS” Widget

This is basically just a link to the URL of the RSS feed for this site. If someone were to add that URL to their RSS Reader to keep abreast on the developments of this blog, this would be one way of getting the URL. The other way is to click the little RSS symbol near or in the address bar of your web browser which should be visible when you are on this site.

“Recent Posts” Widget

You can set how many recent post titles/links you want to display here. I think I have it set to seven.

“Calendar” Widget

I thought, “why not?” Just thought I’d drop things in there to jazz it up. It seems to make bold the dates in which posts were made. Cool! :)

“Akismet” Spam Filter Widget

This is sweet, sweet thing. It has blocked nearly 3,000 spam comments from my blog. Imagine having to moderate all of that? It’s a must have. That reminds me… maybe I need to look into having a robots.txt file… Seems like I’m getting a lot of spam(?)

Categories

Standard… Shows the categories that posts have been made to, and how many. I have it set to a drop-down list right now instead of a normal list… To save space presumably. Not bad!

New themes seem to bring in more widgets. Enjoy exploring widgets for your sidebar they are really neat. I used the “w” word way too much in this post.

Testing IFRAME Tag in a post

So it seems I am able to successfully add an iframe into a post… However I am still looking into the more complex task of adding it into a theme, to add funky stuff like custom menus, neat buttons, a built in game, etc. Realizing this probably isn’t the slickest way of adding content, sometimes it’s simply what works!

By the way (as of the time of this writing), if you want to do this you must enter the code in the ‘code’ tab, and then hit ‘save’ without going back to visual. This is a trick to get IFRAME to work… Otherwise you will just have a blank spot where you tried to put your IFRAME content!

Technorati Claim Token

As a part of registering my blog with Technorati , they ask that I include this claim token ( W9XXCGPYVCYV ) in a post on my blog. This is why you are seeing it here. Thanks.
